A Bergen County Plastic Surgery Center Explains the CoolSculpting® Procedure

Most people, no matter how much they diet and exercise to contour their bodies and achieve the look they want, soon encounter accumulations of fat that just refuse to go away. Yes, there are surgical methods for eliminating those “love handles” or “double chins” that bother you so much every time you look in the mirror, but now there is a non-invasive, non-surgical method of body sculpting that can enable you to target these problem areas and eliminate them.

What exactly is CoolSculpting®?

The CoolSculpting procedure, developed by medical technology innovator ZELTIQ, has recently been named as the ‘Best Non-Invasive Fat Reducer’ for the third year in a row in the NewBeauty Annual Beauty Awards. It is an innovative way to contour your body and eliminate problem areas by freezing away unwanted accumulations of diet- and exercise-resistant fat.

CoolSculpting works because fat cells in the body freeze at a higher temperature than the other cells around them. This allows Bergen County plastic surgeons to safely deliver precisely-controlled low temperatures to gently and effectively target accumulations of fat cells under the skin. Treated fat cells become frozen (crystallized) during the process and then die. Over time, your body processes the dead cells and removes them, leaving the treated areas more sculpted.

What’s it like to receive CoolSculpting® treatments?

The first step is to meet with our experts at our Bergen County plastic surgery center, who will work with you to develop a CoolSculpting® treatment plan that is customized for your body, and that focuses on your problem areas – the accumulations of fat that you want to remove. Then, in the sessions themselves, you simply relax and read a book or listen to music while the treatment device is positioned properly and controlled cooling is applied. The procedure is so gentle that most people are able to return to work or their normal activities immediately and typically see results very quickly in the weeks after treatments have been completed.

If you have additional questions about the procedure, you may want to look over the list of Questions and Answers on our CoolSculpting web page. Or, if you already know that you’re ready to get rid of those “problem areas” forever, give us a call at 201-693-4847 to arrange for a consultation and get the process started.

A NJ Vein Expert Reveals the Best Ways to Treat Varicose Veins in 2015

NJ Vein Expert: Treating Varicose Veins in 2015
NJ Vein Expert: Treating Varicose Veins in 2015

We’re already a few months into 2015: how are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions? If your resolution was to get rid of your varicose veins once and for all, it’s time to act. 2015 is the perfect year to treat your varicose veins because there are so many safe and effective minimally invasive treatment options. Our NJ vein expert explains more about these treatments below.

Treating varicose veins in 2015: the future is now!

To fully understand why 2015 is such a great year for varicose vein treatment, it’s good to have an idea of what vein treatment used to entail. Back in the “bad old days” of vein treatment, there was no such thing as a minimally invasive vein procedure. Instead, if you wanted to have your varicose veins removed, you would have to undergo a procedure known as “vein stripping.” This type of treatment was about as much fun as the name suggests. You would be required to visit a hospital and undergo general anesthesia. A surgeon would make large incisions along the length of the vein and literally strip it out of your body. You’d wake up to a long, painful recovery period and scarring that might not look much better than the varicose veins you had before.

Fortunately, vein treatment in NJ looks much different today. The procedures that Dr. John Chuback and other Bergen County plastic surgeons now rely on are considered minimally invasive. This means they don’t require general anesthesia or large incisions. Instead, you can have your varicose or spider veins removed with the use of only a small needle or tiny catheter.

Choosing the best vein treatment for you

There are a variety of different minimally invasive treatments that vein doctors use to address problematic veins. Finding the right one for you depends largely on your veins’ condition. If you are living with surface level spider veins or small varicose veins, your doctor might recommend sclerotherapy. This procedure uses a pharmaceutical agent to seal veins closed. Once closed, the veins will fade from view, leaving you with improved circulation and aesthetics.

Larger varicose veins might benefit from endovenous laser treatment. This procedure uses heat energy from a laser to seal larger veins shut. Once problematic veins are closed, pressure is reduced on vessels closer to the skin’s surface, helping to get rid of varicose veins. Your doctor might also recommend ambulatory phlebectomy to remove any remaining varices.

Taking care of your veins all year long

While our NJ vein treatment center is equipped with the latest technologies to get rid of your varicose veins, we also encourage all of our patients to consider their lifestyle as well. Managing your weight, quitting smoking, getting plenty of exercise, and avoiding sitting or standing in the same position for extended periods of time can all improve your circulation and reduce your vein disease symptoms.

Whatever your goals for your veins in 2015, Chuback Medical Group can help you accomplish them. We’re here to build an individualized treatment plan that will help improve your circulation and reduce your vein disease symptoms. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Chuback, or to learn more about the treatments we offer, call our office at 201-693-4847. We look forward to speaking with you.
