Liquid Face Lift

Aging is a fact of life, but no one has said it couldn’t, and shouldn’t, be done gracefully. As we age our skin loses elasticity and the volume provided by collagen. Add the downward pull of gravity and you end up with fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. For decades men and women have gone “under the knife” to postpone or delay the aging process. More recently, however, given the economic climate and our busy lifestyles, patients don’t have the time or the money for traditional plastic surgery. The latest solution is a “liquid facelift.” With the advances in cosmetic soft tissue fillers, patients can enjoy a fuller, more youthful looking appearance at a fraction of the cost of plastic surgery and with minimal downtime.

Through a series of injections, skilled practitioners can replace the volume lost during the aging process with cosmetic soft tissue fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse. Common treatment areas include cheek and lip augmentation, correction of the nasolabial folds (the line from the nose to the mouth) and marionette lines and improvement in the volume deficit under the eye, also known as the tear trough. Instead of the tight, gaunt look associated with traditional plastic surgery, there is a plumping up of the skin – restoring a natural, youthful look and giving you back years of volume loss. The procedure is very well tolerated by patients and can be done in the office within 30-45 minutes. Results are seen immediately can last up to a year and, with the appropriate maintenance, even longer.

As a practitioner who has been working in cosmetic medicine for the last 6 years, a common concern expressed by my patients is the worry that they will look unnatural or “overfilled.” Rest assured that one to two syringes of a cosmetic soft tissue filler (the average amount of filler needed per treatment) is a conservative amount of product and will not drastically change your overall appearance. The amount of filler needed will depend on the patient, the area of concern and the amount of correction that is needed. Keep in mind that it is not my goal to make you look radically different, rather to create a younger, fresher version of yourself. Together we can focus on problem areas to achieve a softer, more refreshed look without changing your overall appearance.
